California Condor and Tejon Mountain Village: Planner Unclear on Facts

June 23, 2009
Dear Editor:

Thank you for pointing out that my comments were unclear at the presentation on June 18 regarding the California Condor and an Incidental Take Permit.

I did state, incorrectly, that Tejon Ranch was not seeking an Incidental Take Permit for the Condor.

I was focused on injury and death to the species when the question was asked about the Incidental Take Permit.

Upside of the Downturn: Learning to Survive the Hard Times

By Sue Groves

I was thrilled last year when I found a house in Pine Mountain with a loft, a ton of natural light and an amazing view—all for a rent not even half of what I’d been paying in North Hollywood for much less space. It seemed perfect for beginning my first year trying to live on under $16,000 a year in Social Security after an operation. I was so pleased with the house, I...  [more]

The unemployment rate in Kern County dropped to 14.2 percent in May, according to data released Friday, June 19.
