Mark your calendars to get ready to support the Frazier Mountain High School volleyball team for the playoffs. This past week the Falcons beat Desert High School at Edwards Air Force Base, which is the toughest team in our High Desert League.

The Falcon volleyball team now has 22 wins and 3 losses. The next home game, which is “senior night,” is Thursday, Oct. 25 against Rosamond.

Everyone should come to support the Falcons to victory.

Fill the stands for playoffs

Then, on Tuesday, Nov. 6, come fill the stands for the first at-home playoff game.

Confidence grows

Last week’s game was the second time that the Falcons have beat Desert in league play, and it was on their court. The scores were 25-15, 17-25, 25-14 and 25-19.

The Falcon girls were outstanding in their performance. Heather Henderson and Faith Bedard served four aces each, with Bedard racking up 13 points on her serves. All of our hitters were on target, with Angel McNeeley hitting seventeen kills at the net, Faith Bedard with fourteen, Jessi Pilgram with twelve and Dani Gendron with thirteen.

Heather Henderson had 31 assist sets and Kayla Burns had 16 assists. Jessi Pilgram led the team with three blocks for a kill and two assist blocks.

Faith Bedard had one block for a kill and three assist blocks. Dani Gendron had one block, and Bedard had two blocks. The back row was super. Kayla Burns led the team with twenty-four digs. Faith Bedard had eighteen; Alex Pivetti seventeen; Dani Gendron nineteen; Heather Henderson thirteen; and Rachel Rivette had ten. Kayla Burns also had nineteen serve receives.

The toughest hits from Desert’s attack were taken by Gendron and Pivetti, who played an excellent back row defense against Desert’s huge six-foot-two-inch attacker.

It was an outstanding performance by the Falcon team to secure their first place position. Had they lost, they would have shared first place with Desert, but for these Falcons, that just was not going to happen.

The Falcons have worked very hard this year to secure a league championship and to represent Frazier Mountain High School in the best performance of any team in playoffs.

The girls volleyball team has just advanced to hold the number two ranking in the entire Southern Section of Division 4A this year.

We are hoping that is evidence of how well we will compete in playoffs.

Playoff dates are November 6, 8,10,13,16 and 17.

Playoffs are single elimination. After the first game, the home court is determined by a flip of the coin. Watch for posters around town and an announcement in The Mountain Enterprise (see www.MountainEnterprise. com as Breaking News) if we are home.

Go Falcons…Falcon Pride!
